Learn to Online Shop like a Pro

Three of my best friends and I are in a continuous group chat, and this morning while we chattered on about our weekends and how the the deals this black friday are outrageous two of them mentioned that they "need to learn how to online shop". I figured that this is the perfect time to give some tips on how I manage to get awesome deals without having to step foot in a busy mall, or fight to find a parking spot.

Tip # 1: Pre-shop! Go to the mall a day or two before the big sale event, and try on anything that catches your eye. On the day of the sale go online and shop your size straight to your door without the hassle, or having to put pants on. (Hint: Take pictures of the price tag so you get the right style name/number and color)

Tip # 2: Buy brands you already own! I know we all get frustrated when we wear one size at one store and a different size at another. Does H&M drive anyone else mad? The sizes there are ridiculous....but I'm not going to go off on that rant today. Buying brands that you already own helps to guide you in the right direction in terms of sizing. My three favourite pairs of jeans are a size 29Reg from the Gap so I know 99% of the time that size is going to fit me. Same thing with shoes, I ALWAYS wear a size 9 in Sam Edleman which makes me feel more comfortable in getting the right size if I am ordering online.

Tip # 3: Measure yourself! Or get someone you know to do it. Every online store will have a size or fit description in the item details section. If you have accurate measurements you will be able to better decide which size to order. If you are in between sizing I would suggest to go up, its easier to get things tailored and often can be the same price as return postage. Click Here to learn where exactly you're supposed to measure for bust, waist and hips.

Tip # 4: Silhouettes! Look through your closet and see if you own anything similar to what you are interested in purchasing.  If you don't own anything in that silhouette the chances are that that style doesn't flatter your body type, and will be something you will want to return.

P.S.
This isn't online shopping related but a super sneaky move for anyone who loves to shop at The Bay like I do, is to go and pick out everything you want the morning of Christmas eve or the day before Black Friday and collect all the thing you want to buy and put them off to the side somewhere or in a corner (staff will often be to busy or rushing out to get to their families to put the clothes away). When you get to the mall on the day of the sale simply collect your stash and save big.

TGIFall

Jacket: Winners // Sweater: Aritzia // Jeans: Express // Shoes: Sam Edleman // Purse: Tory Burch // Watch: Burberry // Ring: Poppie

I LOVE fall fashion!!

I Think the key to making cute outfits and surviving the varying temperatures of a fall in Winnipeg is to layer. Jeans and a sweater is a definite fall go to, but by adding an interesting coat or jacket it takes the outfit to a whole new level. Try pairing your jeans with a pointed toe pump to elongate the leg and dress up the outfit a bit and VOILA, you have yourself a super chic fall outfit.

My shopping tip of the week is to hunt down a fall jacket that has some detail to it. Try cute boutiques like Poppie, October, Out of the blue, or Mad about style. They might offer more interesting colours and patterns than what you'll find in the mall.

Happy Shopping, XO

Cozy in Camel

Coat: Ralph Lauren // Sweater: Winners // Pants: Joe Fresh
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff //Shoes: Nine West

I love the idea of monochromatic outfits but its often way too hard to pair the same shade head to toe. This is why I often wear this color combo together, and I think that wearing creams and camels can be a really great way to lighten things up in the winter months when the colors get dark and the styles get heavier. A patterned pant can be a great way to add a little variation into the never ending queue of dark jeans and black leggings. My shopping tip of the week is to pick up something for fall that isn't burgundy, black or shades of grey to lighten up your winter wardrobe. It shouldn't be hard as camel is one of the hottest colors this season. Ive linked a handful of my favourite light colored sweaters below.

This great sleeveless sweater from Aritzia is on heavy repeat in my closet.Click here

Lulus offers some nice more affordable options in varying lengths. Click here.....Here....Or here

Mix and Match

Jacket: Danier // Dress: Windsor Store // Bag: Indigo Books // Flats: Vince Camuto //
Watch: Burberry

When the season starts to turn and its almost time to put away our summer clothes it can be a perfect time to mix some of your summer dresses in with some fall staples to create an outfit that can easily transition between the warm afternoons and the cool evenings. I bought this dress from the $10.00 rack at windsorstore.com while I was in Arizona, and used a super soft lambskin leather jacket from Danier to warm it up. I especially love this jacket because its easy to push the sleeves up to make it more casual. My shopping tip this week is to mix up what you already have in your closet. Try to combine a few pieces from different seasons to see what you come up with. Good luck, XO

What to Wear with Warehouse One

Jacket: Danier // Sweater: Warehouse One // Purse: H&M // Jeans: Club Monaco

A few months ago after tirelessly searching for jobs after finishing my degree I was hired on as an assistant buyer with Warehouse One! Its a really incredible position to start in and being able to work in a field that i'm so passionate about and that allows to me to follow my dreams of working in fashion, i'm truly grateful for. Some people that I talk to about my new job don't realize how much of a variety of clothing Warehouse One offers, and the most enticing part it how affordable our clothing is. Over the next few months i'm going to be putting together outfits incorporating some of my favourite items from Warehouse One to share with everyone. My shopping tip of the week is to go into your local store and look at all the great things my team and I have created, we hope you love it as much as we do!

Posing in Palm

Jacket: Winners // Shorts: LULUS // Purse: Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAB in acid yellow // Shoes: Jeanne Beker // Watch: Burberry // Tank : Warehouse One

If any of you are like me I have a hard time putting away my seasonal wardrobes because it means I have to say goodbye to some of my favourite pieces until the following year. These shorts have been one of my most beloved things in my closet this summer. One of the reasons these are my favourites is because Graeme was so confused when I explained that they were shorts and not a skirt, the look on his face was absolutely priceless hahah.  That being said there are a few easy ways to transition your spring and summer wardrobe into fall. They key is to LAYER!! For a quick example I wore these summer shorts with a tank top and high heeled sandals but added a fall type jackets to balance the outfit out. Happy shopping my loves,  XOXO

Blush

Top: LuLus // Shorts: Winners // Bag: H&M // Shoes: Jessica Simpson // Watch: Burberry // Bracelets: Silver Lotus // Sunglasses: Quay

I love monochromatic outfits, and I'm starting to notice more of them in magazines, and in other style bloggers photos. One of the great things about keeping the colour palette consistent is that you will look taller because it keeps the eye moving across the body without interruption.

The top that I am wearing is one of my favourite things I have purchased for summer! I actually bought three of these Maxi tops in similar styles from Lulus in the last few months, and they definitely get worn the most out of everything in my closet. They can be worn with shorts, over a fitted dress or with pants, making this style versatile and easy to wear.

For those of you who don't love wearing shorts because showing off your legs or thighs makes you self conscious, these tops are the key to making use of all those shorts you have hidden in the back of your closet. Ive attached links to a few of the ones I already own and then a few others I have found that I hope you all love.

I own the maxi tops found Here and Here. If you click on the link Here it will take you to the LuLus website where you can find several other maxi tops, at amazing prices. Happy Shopping, XO

Joggers

Pants: Dynamite // Hat: Joe Fresh // Shoes: Jeanne Beker // Purse: Rebecca Minkoff

First off these pants are amazing! I pretty much hate wearing pants and avoid buying or shopping for pants whenever possible, but these joggers are so comfortable. The best thing about this pair, besides the fact that they are only $39.95 is that they are partially composed of linen, and will be super breathable for hot summers in the prairies.

A pair of pants like this is the easiest way to transition your outfit from day to night time. Simply add a tank top or a basic t-shirt and your most comfortable sandals for running errands during the day, then slip on a pair of high heels and a jazzy necklace to give it an edgier vibe for cocktails with your girlfriends.

My shopping tip of the week is to really think about how comfortable you are in the clothes your buying. I know we all have things in our closet that never get worn because we either feel self conscious or they just don't fit us properly. It's important to keep in mind that feeling good is the number one rule to looking good. Happy Shopping, XO

A Little Nautical

Jeans: RACHEL Rachel Roy // Jacket: Similar Here // Purse: H&M // Shoes: NIne West //

I bought this jacket years ago at Winners and I constantly get compliments on it. I like when jackets make a statement, so don't be scared to opt for a jacket or coat that is a bright colour or has an interesting cut. Royal blue is a colour that matches just about anything, and I pretty much consider it a neutral. Outerwear too often ends up being monopolized by black, white, nudes, and grey tones and it can get a little repetitive.

I LOVE white jeans and I think everyone should invest in a pair for summer. They look so crisp and fresh, however check to see how thin the denim is, you don't want your fuchsia pink panties showing through and stealing the show from your super hot outfit.

My shopping tip of the week is to add more colour to your wardrobe, try choosing something bright and fun for summer. I just picked up two really cute tops from Dynamite this week that are spicing up my summer wardrobe, and they're budget friendly if you're saving money for a summer holiday (you can find links to the tops I just bought Here and Here). Happy shopping, XO

Orange you glad its finally summer?

Dress: Similar Here . Here and Here // Purse: Rebecca Minkoff (on sale here) // Shoes: Jessica Simpson // Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters // Watch: Burberry

Ive had this dress for a few years now and its one of my favourites. I especially love it this season where a bohemian vibe is making waves through stores and festival wear is a staple in all young women's wardrobes. Im not one for short shorts and crop tops (even though I think they look so cute on everyone else) so I think I'll stick to floral maxis and wide leg jeans for now. Happy Shopping, XO

Convocation

Dress: Yumi Different colour here // Shoes: Sam Edleman (on sale here) //
Bag: H&M // Watch: Burberry // Earring: Similar here

For those of you who don't know me personally, I just completed a Science degree from the University of Manitoba with a focus in textiles, and my convocation was on thursday, HOORAY! For the ceremony I picked out this blush coloured floral embroidered dress from my favourite local boutique Poppie. I have a tendency to choose dresses with this silhouette because they are super feminine with the full structured skirt and it balances out my upper and lower half.

This weeks shopping tip is to think ahead about what works for your body. Next time you're shopping try a few silhouettes on and find which styles work the best for you. I know for me I generally don't look great in a shift dress or anything that doesn't have a defined waist. We all have certain things that look great on others but not ourselves, but once you find what works for you it will make shopping a whole lot easier and a whole lot more fun. Happy shopping friends, XO

Chambray and Feathers

Skirt: Club Monaco (similar here) Shirt: Club Monaco (similar here) Bag: Kate Spade New York
Shoes: Sam Edelman Watch: Burberry

Pretty party skirts and dresses don't always have to be reserved for the holiday season, try spicing up your date night by pairing a fun sparkly or feathery skirt with a chambray shirt to dress it down. I love these nude peep toe pumps because the make your legs look extra long and go with pretty much any outfit. Happy shopping, XO
