Pretty Spring Things

Yay Spring is finally here! Well kinda here, Winnipeg is still fairly cold but I'm over winter and its time to talk all things colourful. During the spring and summer I always try to keep fresh blooms in the apartment to brighten things up a bit, Tulips are my favourite as you can probably tell because I have used them in almost every picture here.

I bought this Royal blue neoprene dress from Club Monaco a couple seasons ago and its been a favourite of mine ever since, the silhouette is very flattering for women with a bigger bust because it balances out your frame and creates that perfect hour glass, that I know we all want. Neoprene has continued to be used for women's wear over the last few seasons and I cant even begin to explain how comfortable this fabric is. Neoprene is traditionally used to make scuba gear and has really good insulation so I would recommend if you live in a hot climate not to wear this material on a super hot day just as a heads up (you'll be a puddle by the end of the day)!

Also, some of you have been interested in what you should wear on your feet when it comes to dressing up. Just because you're wearing a coloured dress doesn't mean that you need to wear black or nude shoes. Try to pick something colourful, but a colour that compliments the overall palette of the outfit. I paired the Blue dress with a pair of green heels for an extra pop of color!

To all you big busted beauties out there, you have go to ASOS.com and look up there full bust bathing suits, I just bought this one and it came in regular bra sizes. Its the only place I have been able to find large size bathing suit tops that you can mix and match if your bottom half isnt as big as your top. Also the fact that these are as cute as they are is a major bonus, so go take a peak and pick out something fabulous!

Also, if you're  looking for a great tote or heading to a pool party this Kate Spade New York Black and white striped bag is the perfect summer accessory, found at Winners for $99.99!

Spring is in the air

Winnipeg is starting to warm up and I couldn't be happier. All the other fashion bloggers I follow have been posting pictures of strappy sandals with freshly pedicured toes and bright spring colors and my envy is almost too much to handle. As most of you know I spend pretty much my entire life in a dress, and I have a lot of spring and summer dresses that I wear year to year but there are a few pieces that I am crushing on for when the snow melts. Each dress shown below can be ordered at ASOS.com

Mango Folk Style Dress

ASOS SALON Pinky Rose Bandeau Midi Prom Dress

Warehouse geo printed drop waist dress

Secondly, white jeans are a must, I don't love wearing shorts, and I find that sometimes I don't feel summery wearing jeans so this is the perfect alternative. Below are a few of my favourites
Gap 1969 resolution destructed slim straight skimmer jean
Topshop Moto 'Leigh" Distressed Skinny Jean (in varying lengths)

All hail comfortable shoes!!! A big trend right now is runners, and you can see them being worn with jeans, shorts and dresses. It is so nice that runners are in style for women because we all know how much sore feet can ruin a good outfit. A pair of white converse will compliment almost every outfit you can think of, as well New Balance runners have been worn with outfits of all types for both men and women and they are hot hot hot right now! (both of these can be found at http://www.littleburgundyshoes.com/

Faux Fur

Scarf: Topshop // Jacket: Jones New York // Purse: Tory Burch

Two years ago I made the mistake I know we have all made before and bought a wool coat I wasn't really that into. Needless to say it has sat in my Hall closet collecting dust since then....until, I found this amazing faux fur scarf at Topshop while I was visiting friends in Vancouver. An accessory like this one is the perfect way to make an old piece feel new again. Also, if you are the more budget conscious shopper there are other ways to jazz up your winter coats, if you've had a coat for a long time you can do something as simple as go to the fabric store and buy new buttons, which can give the jacket a mini face lift until you can afford to buy a new one. Happy shopping (even if its just for buttons), XO

Gray in the garden

Jacket: Vintage // Dress: ASOS // Bag: Tory Burch // Lipstick: Lise Watier- Cassis

I am obsessed with this vintage coat my grandmother gave me, the fur is so soft and luxurious I just cant get enough of it. This gray midi dress was an amazing buy because it has a mix of a few different styles and therefore can be worn in multiple situations. It has a vintage feel because of the length but then modern and funky because of the jewelled neckline and lace raglan sleeve. This dress could even be paired with dressy earring and bracelet for a night out, or with a cardigan and worn to work depending on how dressy your workplace is. The best part about clothing that has any kind of detailing at the neckline is that it eliminates the need to find the right Jewellery to match the outfit, a pair of studs is more than enough to compliment the outfit in most situations. Obviously I am still toting my trusty Tory Burch bag, see the link above for details about this bag and how to purchase. Happy shopping XO,

Cant get enough of Plaid

Dress: BB dakota Jacket: Danier  Purse: Tory Burch (in pink for spring) Booties: Vince Camuto (similar here) Sunglasses: Farmfresh Lipstick: Lise Watier "Cassis"

Winters in Winnipeg are freezing, and those of us who live here year round know that there is nothing greater than a comfy plaid shirt to get you through the cold months. I have a TNA shirt from Aritzia that is this same print in flannel that everyone MUST go out and buy! I got mine cheap on a black friday sale and its been worth its weight in gold.
That being said my love of plaid goes beyond flannel, this BB dakota dress is the perfect way to take a plaid pattern and work it into an evening or more dressed up daytime outfit. Ive paired if with tights and my favorite daytime booties for a date with my beautiful photographer Xandra Photography. I have also worn it with leggings and moto-inspired boots to dress it down to run errands or head to class. I love how this pairs with my new leather jacket that I scored from Danier on sale over the holidays, right now its on clearance from $449.00 down to $149.00 so if you're looking for a new jacket follow the link above to purchase.
As usual I am carrying my Robinson Tote by Tory Burch that I'm pretty sure I could not live without. It was my first expensive bag I've ever owned and I have used it almost everyday for a year and a half. If anyone out there is looking to invest in a high quality bag that will be in style forever, I recommend looking into purchasing this tote because its so versatile, it even fits my laptop and binder for when i'm running back and forth to school. Black and White

Dress: Winners Jacket: Calvin Klein Blouse: H&M Bag: Tory Burch
Shoes: Zigi Soho: similar here Sunglasses: Farmfresh Earrings: Baublebar

Its been too cold to go out and take pictures lately, so i'm using one that Xandra photography and I shot a few months ago but hadn't used yet. This outfit can be worn in the colder weather also, all you need to do it add tights or pantyhose and you're ready to roll. I try to make my clothes stretch throughout as many seasons as possible, and for some of my favourite pieces such as this dress, it can be really easy.
You can use one of your summer dresses in 1 of 2 ways, first you can add a button up blouse in a corresponding color, like I have done here, or you can wear the dress (best with a skater skirt) with a chunky sweater overtop. I wore this same dress with a cropped knit sweater with a heavy cowled neck out for dinner with Graeme the other night and it looked great and was cozy but had a feminine flare to it. If you are pairing the dress with a sweater, you can even wear it with a pair of riding boots for a comfortable day outfit, then throw some heels on at night and you're ready for dinner or for drinks with the girls.
If you're starting to get bored with your winter wardrobe, look through our summer stuff and see which pieces are versatile, I want to see you getting the most bang for your buck. Happy shopping XO,

Midriff

Dress: BCBG-long version here Jacket: Ralph Lauren Bag: Tory Burch Necklace: American Apparel

I am currently obsessed with the idea of wearing a crop top, however like many of you I don't feel 100% comfortable baring a full midriff. Thats why I love this dress so much, it just gives little peek-a-boos of skin here and there, while giving the desired effect. Im going to suggest for those of you who are in the market for a dress that has cut outs, to make sure that they are located in a spot that will make you comfortable, and to test sitting in it before you make the purchase.

I know I have had this Jacket on repeat lately, but I just love it so much. I promise ill switch it up soon and show everyone something new. Stay tuned and happy shopping, XO
